Obituary for Theresa Clare Parsons at Caul's Funeral Home (2024)

It is with broken and shattered hearts that we announced the passing of Theresa Clare (Molloy) Parsons of Torbay.

Predeceased by her parents William and Mary Molloy; Parents-In-Law Gertrude and Michael Parsons; brothers Robert Molloy, Willie Molloy and Jimmy Molloy; Sisters Mary Tapper and Pat Grace; Brother-In-Laws Francis Thorne, Robert Tapper, Jimmy Coady, John Grace, Richard Parsons, Martin Parsons (Annie), Michael Parsons (Frances) & Norman Parsons (Jane); Sister-In Laws Mildred McDonald (Gerald), Mary Molloy and Mary Wade (Patrick); nephews John Martin, David Molloy, Bobby Molloy and Paul Molloy; and beautiful nieces Tara Grace and Melissa Thorne.

Leaving to mourn, her husband of 57 years, John Parsons, her daughter Trina (Rod Roche), son Jonathan (Cindy Goulding) and two grandsons Lucas & Ryan Roche. Also leaving behind with cherished and loving memories, her sisters Catherine Coady, Shirley Thorne and Sister Frances Molloy (PBVM); brothers John Molloy (Kathleen) and Joe Molloy (Sandy). Sister-In Laws Perpetua (Peachie) Molloy, Pauline Molloy, Josphine Martin (William–deceased), Genevieve Fleming (Patrick-deceased) & Madonna McGrath (Gerard). Theresa also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Reminiscing for the last couple of months was her way of sharing how truly blessed she was. She would talk about the early years when they would go on camping trips with Catherine and Jimmy Coady, the outdoor cook-ups with Peachie Molloy and anyone else who wanted to join them at various camp grounds, by a pond and some, which were John’s favourite, in on the Deer Marsh in Flatrock. Being part of a large family, the Molloys would always have something to celebrate. Birthdays, Christmas, Anniversaries and family reunions would bring everyone together and when the Molloys were together, you were always guaranteed good music, food, wonderful friends but most importantly, time with family.

A little over twenty years ago Theresa and John built a new home on a cul-de-sac in Torbay. Theresa would say “I love my street and I love my perfect neighbours”. So, from all of us, we want to say a heartfelt sincere thank you to Rick & Kay Kennedy, Mike & Karen Evans, John & Alva Moss, Julieanne, Dheeraj and Devin Trivedi and Silvia & Wayne Mulally. Everyday there was always a smile, wave or a chat to greet them on their street and always a helping hand when needed. So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The last couple of months have been a world-wind of emotions. The love and support from Theresa’s sisters Shirley and Frances helped to guide us and get us through the hard days. We love you dearly and will never be able to thank you enough for your support and the countless hours you spent with mom during her last few months.

Thank you to Theresa’s nieces Nancy Rowe (who was like a second daughter to Theresa), Williamina Martin, Melanie Ryan, Aimee Thorne and Bernice Molloy for their visits, telephone calls and for dropping off treats to Theresa and John. And, to Theresa’s Brothers and Sister-In-Laws John, Kathleen, Joe and Sandy, thank you for spending time with Theresa over the last few months. You made her laugh and smile and it gave her comfort knowing you were all there. To her sister Catherine, Theresa talked about you almost every day. She would ask about you and look to call you to see how you were doing. She truly loved you all dearly. And, to Theresa’s niece and God Daughter Trish Molloy, words cannot begin to express our gratitude and love for you coming to see mom, cutting her hair and in her own words, “making me feel beautiful”. Thank you to Theresa and John’s long-time friends Odele & Hubert Codner, Jim & Dianne Stamp, Karen & John Linfield and the entire Roche Family. We would also like to thank Craig Ryan for his incredible kindness coming to visit Theresa and sharing the gift of song and music.

Thank you to Father Paul Lundrigan for your support and prayers during the past few months. Thank you to Nurse Practitioner, Allison Stacey who met Theresa and John two years ago and became their family doctor. She went above and beyond for them. Thank you to Dr. Suzanne Drodge at the Cancer Care Clinic and Dr. Rogers at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit. Thank you to all the staff at the Palliative Care Center who made Theresa happy and comfortable during her time there especially Derek, Krista, Lea-Ann, and all the wonderful nurses and volunteers. Theresa would always say to them “I can’t believe how perfect you all are” and smile. Thank you to Loretta who not only kept Theresa’s room clean but was always there with a smile, a story, a book and even homemade baked goods. And, thank you to Joe Tilley who brought Theresa her meals but always took the time to say hello, asked her how she was doing and would sit for a moment to share a story or two.

“If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again. Although it’s difficult today to see beyond our sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort us tomorrow.”

We love you so much mom and will miss you always. Thank you for being the kind, gentle, loving soul you were. We were all truly blessed to have you in our lives. Until we see you again. xoxo
