Netflix released the much-awaited Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura original net animation film on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Both the fandoms seemed to receive the film well and enjoyed the compelling cross-over between Baki Hanma and Kengan Ashura.

Baki Hanma’s director, Toshiki Hirano, directed the anime film at TMS Entertainment. In an early announcement, the collaboration introduced the primary pairs who would feature in the anime. These included Saw Paing Yoroizuka vs. Kaoru Hanayama, Raian Kure vs. Jack Hammer, and Baki Hanma vs. Ohma Tokita.

Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura: The first two rounds cause a stir

Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura begins with the protagonists from both universes jogging separately, albeit on the same path. As such, they cross each other while running, and something clicks, triggering a feeling that they will fight each other soon.

The scene turns cinematic as an earthquake hits Japan, almost as if confirming their gut feeling. Yamash*ta Kazuo arrives and bolts with Tokita Ohma. An announcement prepares the audience for a fight between two underground fighting arenas.

The film shifts to the Underground Arena from Baki, inside the Tokyo Dome stadium, where the match will take place. Despite being an underground activity, the fight is set to be shown on television, indicating the public’s anticipation for the event.

Moreover, it is decided that there will be three rounds. Each round will involve a member from the Baki universe fighting against a character from Kengan Ashura.

The first pair was Saw Paing Yoroizuka and Kaoru Hanayama. A flashback shows that it did not take much effort to convince Kaoru Hanayama for the fight. So much so, that he did not even care who his opponent was. Saw Paing, on the other hand, wanted to fight to take after his father’s steps.

The match saw both individuals giving their all to the point of blood gushing out of their bodies. Although both showed extraordinary strength while brawling, Hanayama launched the final blow and ripped Saw Paing’s muscles apart.

The first round ended in Baki’s favor, leading to another round featuring Jack Hammer from Underground Arena and Kengan Ashura’s Raian Kure. Kure expresses his disgust towards Jack by scoffing at his tendency to build his body using steroids and doping.

The match involves intense blows from both individuals, with the viewers claiming that the bout will not end until someone intervenes. Soon, Pickle from the Baki Hanma-universe interferes with the match, and the organizers eventually announce Raian Kure as the winner.

Before the third round begins, the protagonists of the Baki and Kengan Ashura series arrive at the battleground to take Pickle away.

Baki Hanma vs Kengan Ashura ending: Did Baki and Ohma settle scores?

The moment that everyone had waited for arrives when Tokita Ohma from Kengan Ashura and Baki from Baki Hanma finally meet at the ring. Both of them were equally delighted to be fighting each other. They were seemingly prepared for the match and fought without letting their guard down.

However, Baki’s father, Yujiro, arrives at the battleground, compelling Kuroki Gensai to fight him. Baki and Ohma express their frustration at the interference. This triggers a brawl between Yujiro and Ohma as well as Kuroki and Baki.

Witnessing how matters slipped out of hand, the organizers announce that the match has ended in a draw. To calm Yujiro Hanma and Kuroki Gensai down, they also promise to conduct a brawl between the two strongest fighters from their respective worlds.

Finally, the battle at the Underground Arena ends with an undecided winner. Although each team won one round, the final round ended in a draw, leading to an inconclusive outcome.

The two protagonists, Baki and Ohma, express their anticipation to fight each other in the near future. However, the inconclusive ending indicates that Netflix will host a second installment of Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura, where Baki and Ohma get to settle the scores.
